FITNESS INSPECTION AT KOIVISTO GARAGE.
A roadworthiness test is a necessary part of the used car trade.
Trading is worry-free when the technical and optical condition of the car is fully known and any defects have been repaired.
In this article, we want to shed some light on what is involved in our health check, what types of faults are often found and how to prevent them.
WHAT DOES A FITNESS CHECK INVOLVE?
A roadworthiness inspection is a process that is carried out when a car enters our shop. A vehicle inspection is carried out on all cars, both trade-ins and trade-ins. This includes a technical and visual inspection as well as a service history check.
The technical inspection includes: test drive, testing of equipment, checking for leaks and gaps and reading the fault memory twice - before and after the test drive.
An optical inspection is a check of all surfaces of the car, including paintwork, windscreen and interior trim.
WHAT TYPES OF DEFECTS ARE USUALLY FOUND DURING A HEALTH CHECK?
Normally, a fitness check can find a wide range of defects or deficiencies. Of course, it depends on the age and mileage of the car. Sometimes a new car with little mileage may already have a broken seat edge or a clutch that is almost worn out. While in a car with 300km on the clock, you won't find anything wrong with it. Usually, cars have a scheduled service, an inspection coming up, studs loose and a cracked windscreen. > This is often the case with a ten year old car from southern Finland that comes into the shop to be replaced.
THREE TIPS FOR THE MOTORIST
If you are interested in taking care of your pirss:
- Keep the threshold low to read the fault codes if you feel your car is acting up.
- Drive with good tyres and take the car to a garage or garage for a check-up - if the chassis is making extra noises.
- Keep your paintwork and upholstery in good condition, everyone knows how to wash and wax a car when they watch a video on how to do it - or pay someone a few tenner.
